Geocache Description:

HOMETOWN - (noun) meaning the town of one’s birth or early life OR present fixed residence. Most of us look at the names of the geocache we go to.  Hopefully to get more insight into what we might be looking for at the cache site. A tiny little clue or hopefully a great big hint as to what will make the find a whole lot easier, with a minimal amount of pain and in the shortest amount of time. BUT have you ever thought about the CO (cache owner) who pays tribute to their hometown? The place where memories are built around families and friends. The place with the hometown southern hospitality and charm. LOCATION: This cache is located at the posted coordinates. GOAL: In order to log a find, you must have found 50 hometown caches in at least 25 North Carolina counties. PURPOSE: The purpose of this cache is to get you out to see some of the hometowns in our state. It is not to be just a quick cache. IT IS A CHALLENGE! You are suppose to savor the smell of the awesome aroma's of hometown pride in each hometown. I will check the logs and delete those that do not complete the challenge correctly. It is a simple challenge and there are lots and lots and lots of hometown caches in our state. LOTS! GUIDELINES: [01]  ALL hometowns must be in North Carolina. [02]  “Hometown" can be a current town, city or village.         The cache title must use a mention of the town name in it's title. [03]  Only one cache in one hometown.         You have to visit 50 different hometowns, so 50 different caches. [04]  You must have at least one hometown cache in at least 25 counties. [05]  Hometown cache must be within a 10 mile radius of the hometown.         See "TO FIND A HOMETOWN CACHE" below. [06]  All cache types can be used. [07]  Cache can be archived now, but must have been active when you found it. [08]  NO date restrictions. [09]  To make verification of completion of challenge either: (1) send a list to me; (2) post a list with your log; or (3) make a bookmark list. Include hometown, county and date found in your list. [10]  If other cachers are with you, when you go to the final, they can sign the log, BUT they MUST post a note on the cache page saying that  they signed the log and are working to complete the challenge. Then when they do complete it, they can log it as found without returning to the physical location. [11]  Remember that this is a game and is supposed to be fun!  ENJOY!!! QUESTIONS: If you have ANY questions about this challenge or whether a cache you went to qualifies as a hometown cache, e-mail me at sull427@yahoo.com. Planning/questions before you travel to the final cache, will help alleviate any misunderstandings and/or deletion of post upon completion. Lets work together to make this an awesome fun adventure. :-) TO FIND A HOMETOWN CACHE: [01] At geocacing.com, click 'PLAY'; at 'by address' type in the hometown you are looking for; change 'mile(s) radius' to 10. Scroll down the list to see if the town is in the title of the caches. (There are some hometowns that do not have a hometown cache.) TO VERIFY THAT THE HOMETOWN CACHE QUALIFIES: [01] Go to the webpage and look at the two maps on the right of page. Do you see the name of the hometown near the cache icon? [02] Go to a search engine (ie http://www.google.com) and type in the name of your hometown. Do you see your hometown mentioned as a town, city or village? On google, there will be an image of the hometown boundaries on the right. [03] Still not sure if you cache qualifies? Go to http://www.city-data.com/city/North-Carolina2.html At this site, there are three list of towns, cities and villages, you can switch from 1. 6000+ residents; 2. 1000-6000 residents; and 3. < 1000 residents. If your hometown is not listed on one of the three lists, do not use it. The difficulty is because of the distance you will have to travel. The cache is actually a 1.5/1.5. BONUS POINT and a BIG smile from me: Look back at your journey through North Carolina and write in your log which one was your favorite hometown and why.
