This cache is located on the Eglin AFB reservation.
Eglin base regulations require that you must
check the Jackson Guard website
to confirm that the area around the cache
is open for civilian access before entry.
Jackson Guard updates this information daily at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
and provides the next-day and three day closure forecast.

Do not enter the reservation without
a valid permit in your possession
and checking the closure website!

Hunters, and military personal conducting maneuvers, including live fire, may be in this area. There is lots of wild life including bears, alligators and poisonous snakes. Jumping sturgeon can cause serious injury. Ticks, fleas, chiggers, mosquitoes, spiders, flies, etc. etc. etc., are common so DEET is a big help. Spider webs cross nearly every path, and the spiders grow to arachnophobia size and are probably the most common hazard after the thorns, sticker bushes, poison oak, ivy and sumac, sticks, stones, fallen trees, mudholes and quicksand. The area can be freezing and flooded in the winter, blazing hot and muddy in the summer. There are strong currents in the rivers and creeks. It is possible exploded, exploding and unexploded ordinance could be anywhere in the area so be aware of your surroundings. Don’t touch anything that looks like ordinance. Follow the instructions in the UXO handbook provided with your permit if you spot anything that looks like ordinance.

The roads to the cache are often impassible
with a 2WD drive vehicle.
Exercise caution -- mudpuddles and soft sand can
trap your car -- even a 4WD.
