Älvdalens Kyrka / Church of Älvdalen

Älvdalens kyrka härstammar ifrån 1585 då den första stenkyrkan togs i bruk.
100 år senare byggdes den ut åt söder. 1783 byggdes den ut åt öster. Tornet tillkom 1816.
År 1824-1826 byggdes kyrkan ut till nuvarande storlek. 1903-1905 fick kyrkan sin nuvarande utsmyckning.
Utsmyckning och färger har bestämts av 1762 års altattavlas ram. Pelarna under orgelläktaren är av Garbergsgranit och det tog 7 månader att slipa dessa.
Vid kyrkans södra sida står fattigbössan Lazarus där bl.a Balzerjungfruns pengar läggs varje år.

The church of Älvdalen dates back to the year 1585 when the first stone church was built.
100 years later, the church was expanded to the south. 1783 it was expanded to the east. The belltower was built in 1816.
In the years 1824-1826 the church was expanded to the size of today. the church was decorated to today´s look in the years 1903-1905.
The design and colors was inspired from the altarpiece-frame dated 1762. The columns under the church organ is made from Garbergsgranit. It took 7 months to chisel and polish them.
At the south side of the church, the poor box Lazarus can be found. It's here the money from the Balzer maiden is collected each year.
