Geocache Description:

Although we've seen people park their small cars right at the trailhead, we don't recommend it. Bigger cars (up to two) should park at the parking waypoint, a mere football field away from the trailhead. Wherever you park, be careful, this is a busy street.

This geocache is another one of those you'd probably never know about unless you were a local muggle. We've passed this spot a million times, and now finally we've checked it out for a cache placement. Let this be our little secret...

Do you remember when you were a muggle? All the questions you had? All the new things you saw? All the beginner's mistakes you made? We do! In fact, when my better half and I were teaching ourselves how to geocache in the Idaho wilderness, we Did Not Find (DNFed) our first four attempts! We thought Geocaching was the biggest hoax the world had ever seen! We weren't yet "in" on the secret that muggles don't know.

We've come a long way, baby. We found not all of our questions could be answered via online reference or blogs. The real font of knowledge was Other Geocachers. So to help along the beginners, and give the more experienced cachers a chuckle, this cache has within it leaflets of silly pre-conceptions and questions. Mark our words, although they may seem trivial, having an experienced geocacher answer these questions for you will possibly make you both better informed. So enjoy the list (one per household, please), and even better, bring one to a Geocaching Event!

You are about to explore Nickerson Knoll Reservation, a Hamilton-Wenham Open Land Trust property (see the Related Web Page link above). This land abuts private property, so please DO NOT follow the trail farther south than the reference coordinate. There are no helpful signs other than the ones marking the entrance, so I'm guessing that proximity to private homes + Wenham Lake (water source) = NO DOGS. The trail leaves the esker (visit link) to bend to the northwest before the property ends, please wait until your bushwhack is about 30'. You are looking for a 7”x7”x2.5” Lock ‘n’ Lock with room for swag and trackables.

The First-To-Find prize is an American coin rarer than our usual leave, an “Indian Head” cent, 100+ years old (in a viewing box)! The obverse of this coin isn’t an Indian, but “Lady Liberty” wearing an Indian headdress. Back then Lady Liberty’s profile graced all of our pocket change. FTF honors to mtnlion mothergoose, well done!
