Questa cache vi condurrà in una famosissima isola fantasma della laguna Veneta: L’isola di Poveglia. Quest’isola è nota per essere stata anche un lazzaretto. In tempi più moderni è stato costruito anche un ospedale, dove la psichiatria era stata costruita sopra elle ex fosse comuni degli appestati seppelliti nel 1793. Per questo ovvio motivo i malati di mente sentivano i lamenti dei morti della peste. Infatti nel corso della storia ci sono stati racconti di diversi avvistamenti e storie di fantasmi sin dai tempi più antichi.
Non troverete mezzi pubblici per raggiungere quest’isola, dovrete usare di mezzi privati. Per approdare nella giusta parte dell’isola si consiglia l’approdo sul retro della cavana nel canale che divide l’isola (vedere waypoint).La cache è nascosta in un piccolo edificio (con una sola stanza) che si trova vicino al ponte di legno. Questo edificio è esterno a qualsiasi recinzione, aperto e accessibile pubblicamente. Non è necessario entrare in alcun altro edificio per trovare questa cache.
Prima di procedere con il viaggio verso l’isola, informati sulle maree perché su quel canale alcuni fondali (specialmente il canale che porta all'approdo) possono essere molto bassi e pieni di detriti quindi prestate attenzione.

This cache will take you to a famous island in the venetian lagoon: Poveglia Island. This island is quite well known for its past as a plague hospital. In more recent times an insane asylum was build over the most recent plague pits from 1793…naturally the asylums patients heard the laments of those who died of the plague and went even more insane. In recent history there have been quite a lot of reports of paranormal sightings on this quite peaceful island. There is no public transport to Poveglia Island so you have to use private boats. We recommend mooring your boat near the wooden bridge on the canal that divides the island (see waypoint).
The cache is hidden in a small building (only one room) which is near the wooden bridge. It is open to the public and it is not necessary to enter any other building (which are quite unsafe).
Before going there by boat you should take a minute to study the tides because the channel near the mooring place can be quite shallow and full of debris on low tides, so take care.

Dieser Cache führt euch auf eine Insel im südlichen Teil der venezianischen Lagune: Poveglia. Die Insel ist berühmt durch ihre Geschichte als Seuchenlazarett und Quarantäneinsel der venezianischen Republik. Anfang des 20. Jahrhundert wurde hier ein Sanatorium gebaut dessen psychatrische Abteilung genau über den Gräber der letzten Pesttoten von 1793 liegt. Aus diesem Grund, heisst es, wurden die dort untergebrachten Geisteskranken noch verrückter da sie die Klagerufe der Toten des nachts hörten. Legenden und Geistergeschichten umranken dies Insel jedenfalls seit vielen Jahrhunderten und es gibt immer wieder Berichte von paranormalen Erscheinungen.
Da es keine öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel gibt um die Insel zu erreichen müßt ihr ein privates Boot benutzen. Als Anlegeplatz empfehlen wir die hölzerne Brücke im Kanal der die Insel teilt (siehe Waypoint). Der Cache ist in einem kleinen Gebäude in der Nähe der hölzernen Brücke versteckt, das Gebäude ist der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich und es ist nicht nötig irgendein anderes Gebäude zu betreten (da viele der anderen Bauten einsturzgefährdet sind!).
Bevor ihr zur Insel fahrt informiert euch über die lokalen Gezeiten, da bei Niedrigwasser einige Bereiche um die Insel sehr flach sein können, vor allem der Kanal zum Anlegeplatz.
