Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden near a really interesting rock formation which we believe may be Metamorphic Sandstone formed by glacial movement. It provides a great location to sit and sign the log. BYOP. Log only.

It is recommended that you park at listed parking coordinates (Rte. 15 and Compton Goble Rd.). Do not block the gate. 4 wheel drive vehicles can drive down Compton Goble Rd. to access trails. Trails are not marked. Care should be taken during hunting season.

In 2012 this 835 acre property, previously known as the Baker/Firestone Tract was preserved by the Trust for Public Land. The State of New Jersey was conveyed 647 acres as an addition to the Rockaway River Wildlife Management Area and 188 acres was conveyed to Jefferson Township for municipal recreation and conservation purposes. This site is located in the Highlands Preservation Area and contains environmentally sensitive wetland areas. It is the habitat for many state and federally listed species including the Bobcat, Golden-winged warbler, Timber rattlesnake, Red-shouldered hawk, Indiana bat, Cooper's hawk and Barred owl. Compton Goble Rd. is a dirt which traverses the property for two miles and provides access to numerous trails.

Congratulations cuteynewt. FTF. Thanks for the Geology lesson, I think?
