A chance to try geocaching, there will be a selection of caches for beginners as well as a series of recently published geocaches for more experienced cachers. This event will take place at Comrie Croft in Perthshire. This is between Crieff & Comrie just off the A85. Scottiedogz will be at the co-ords from 11am.
Following the success of geocaching events in previous years this event has been organised as part of the Drovers' Tryst Walking Festival which takes place from 12th to 19th October 2013.
Crieff & Strathearn Drovers' Tryst annually celebrates the life, work and play of the people who made Crieff the cattle-droving crossroads of Scotland in the 1700s. The modern day Tryst is run by volunteers and built around a programme of guided walks in the stunning scenery and autumn colours of Strathearn & surrounding areas of Perthshire. The walks vary in difficulty but all are enriched by wildlife, plants, trees, history and the company of like-minded people.
Complementing the walks is a series of enjoyable evening social events, with music, drama, film and dancing! The Tryst also embraces a mountain bike event, and there is great food and drink to be enjoyed in local restaurants and cafes, a wide choice of places to stay and many other interesting attractions. fair. More information on the Drovers Tryst & events available throughout the week are available from their website http://www.droverstryst.com
At Welcome to Geocaching at Comrie Croft there will be plenty to do for all the family. Walks in the woods & mountain bike trails (bike available for hire or bring your own). The aim of the event is to have fun, meet a few people and to try and encourage others to come along and give caching a try. We will have lots of information about geocaching & will be available all day to answer any questions. We hope that some of the experienced cachers will show those who haven't tried it before how geocaching is done
A tea room on site sells a selection of hot drinks & snacks or you can bring your packed lunch.
This is a day event. However if you want to stay longer Comrie Croft does offer hostel accomodation & camping.
There will be a selection of caches hidden around Comrie Croft & there are already lots of caches in the surrounding area. The main meeting area & tea room are suitable for wheelchairs & buggies, some of the paths may be suitable for all terrain buggies.
