This is Alaska Park. But before that, it was a street named Alaskan Court and this was my home before the neighborhood started sinking and it was condemned. Two blocks of houses were razed and this pocket park was created.
The Flood of 1973 greatly affected this area. The houses were inundated by water and my family's house was no exception, with three to four feet of nasty sewer water filling the basement. The City of St. Louis condemned that area a few years after we moved away. The neighborhood was demolished and the streets were removed. Now, grass lives in place of the streets where I and my friends played when we were little kids.
As a "young" park, there aren't very many trees here, but they're growing. In the meantime, this park is great for kite-flying and tossing around a ball. So come by and see my old homestead!
Congratulations to rogbarn for First To Find!
