Recent construction has beautified the area, creating benches, parking, and a bridge connecting the site to the new(ish) Canal Landing Park on the other side of Limestone creek. When we placed our original hide here (GC339ZA ) a couple of years ago the area was overgrown and unkempt. Quite a change now
Here you will find the remains of the old dam and the beginning of the canal. The mile long waterway was used in the 19th century to transport goods between the village of Fayetteville and the Erie Canal. Today the old towpath serves as a nice walking and biking trail that connects up to the Erie Canal State Park at the Limestone wide waters.
