Skeerpoort is a small village between Hartebeespoort Dam and Magaliesberg. It is surrounded by farms and it has its own primary school.
The cache is a small, round container (approx. 250ml) which holds a logbook and small trade items.
The Skeerpoort river runs past this village and the railway line is long gone, however a sign indicating a railway line in days gone by, still stands.
This is a busy dirt road but there is a spot to pull over and enjoy the beautiful view of the Skeerpoort River valley.
Unfortunately, it seems as if this spot is used as a dumping ground. It is filthy and unpleasant, however, we felt as geocachers we could do our bit and CITO when we do this cache (and enjoy the lovely view). Please do bring along some plastic bags and gloves and clean up as much as you can. There were loads of bottlers when we were there, which are fully recyclable.
Please ensure to cover the cache EXACTLY as it was found - with bark and leaves. Please do not loose the bark - we battled to find this to cover the cache. Be on the lookout of muggles and please DO NOT attempt this cache if muggles come to enjoy the view.
