JL_HSTRE: A journey ends. CITO'd container which was a total mess inside.

Almost a decade in this location after being recycled from another cache and surviving a burn is a good run for a container in Florida, even an ammo can. Insect invasion means it's no longer watertight and thus useless.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for an ammo can hidden in Sandpiper Bay Park.

This park is open 8AM to dusk. At the time of placement, there is no parking lot. However, there is also no curb and no signs prohibiting parking along the road. Just be sure to get all wheels off the pavement.

Sandpiper Bay Park is an 11 1/2 acre undeveloped PSL city park. Although established in 2005, as of 2013 there is no parking lot, no restrooms, and no facilities other than a few picnic tables and trash cans.

I think there used to be at least one cache in this park, but it was archived a few years ago. I decieded to visit this park and place a cache for two reasons: I think every park should have a cache, and I wanted to place a new cache to help people working on 31 Days Of Geocaching.

So why "Wandering Toast?" I found a decent spot for a hide near the picnic area, but decieded to explore the park further and discovered a trail which I wandered down to see where it went. I followed this trail back to a canal then noticed a section of woods that involve minimal bushwacking. Further exploration turned up a nice, simple spot for a cache. The ammo can I used has been cleaned up after falling victim to a prescribed burn; this container was originally the final for my Savannas Preserve State Park Tour multicache (GC2N449).
