Parking and start point is Blarmachfoldach viewpoint (N56 48.079 W005 07.089). (There is also a cache here). Go through gate, up the hill and through 2nd new gate. Going is grassy initially (sometimes livestock so dogs must be on leads). After 2nd gate, it changes to rough, heather track, steep in places, so care needed on descent. It can often be wet and boggy near the top, but a dry line can usually be found. At the trig point at 950 feet, there are great views all round.
Cache is a four clip plastic food container, containing log book & pencil, keyring and perhaps a TB or two.
Please make sure that any travel bugs picked up are logged and sent on their way.
At the top, views are of Corran narrows to the W; Morvern hills in the distance; Fort William, Caol and the Great Glen to the NE; Ben Nevis to the SE, and the West Highland Way to the S. This is a little walked route, taking 20-30 mins each way with ascent of about 450 ft from start. On a good day it offers some of the very best views of the area. This hill is exactly (according to the OS) the same height as the Cow Hill to the East, which also has a cache on the top and two on the way up.I have found from the reviewer of this cache that it is on a SSSI site as designated by SNH and I have kindly bean given permission for the cache by the Achentore common grazing commission who have just recently re introduced cattle to the top of the hill for the summer months, Hope you enjoy the cache!
