Geocache Description:

You can park at Twig's drive thru just east of GZ.

On the hunt for Morgan. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of General John Hunt Morgan’s raid through Indiana and Ohio, the state of Ohio has put out 56 interpretive signs on his 557 mile trail through the state. You can follow his ride with road signs along the way. That, and the geocaches I have hidden along 40 miles he rode through Hamilton County.

The cache numbers go in order from 0-10.5 – generally west to east. The integer (whole number, 1,2,3…) caches are multicaches. At each one of these the listed coordinates bring you to a commemorative sign. The text on the signs that give you the numbers to match the variables for the final cache coordinates. At each descriptive sign be sure to copy down some variables that will lead you to bonus (mystery) caches (#4.5 and #10.5) as well. I used different letters so you won’t get mixed up between the multicache variables and bonus cache variables. The bonus cache variables are always to do with the mileage to the next sign. For bonus cache #4.5 your gather the clues from signs 1-4, for bonus cache #10.5 the clues come from signs 5-10.

It is best to find the series in increasing number order as the finals for each multicaches is further along Morgan’s trail (which goes generally west to east). There are some traditional caches along the way as well they will be decimals between the multis (ie 1.5 is found on the way from 1 to 2). I hope others hide some more caches (and use the naming convention) along the way. I hope others pick up the idea and extend the trail throughout eastern Ohio.

The caches associated with the trail are stored in this bookmark – ready for easy PQ.

The listed coordinates bring you to a historic marker that will allow you to answer the clues below:

Morgan and his staff visited the XC mile house. (The building just north of the sign you are at. Has historic sign on western wall.)

The officers paid Myer $EZ0, but took his horse and V boxes of cigars.

…a local farmer described the scene in a letter he wrote F days later...

“They were about W hours passing though.”

B hours later the Union cavalry came to town

Final cache coordinates:

N39 16.XZ{W+V+X} W84 24.{E+F}BC

Bonus #4.5 clues : Next marker Evendale is R.S miles away

You can download a gpx "track" of the entire route of Morgan's raid in Hamilton county at (visit link) and on cache #0 (visit link) there are two pictures of what the road signs look like.
