Geocache Description:

English version below.

English version (translated by flymiles)

Geocaching, the journey is the destination ... in this case, the journey in question is about 8 km in length. You will receive many, varied impressions along the way. Not everything will be revealed immediately ... some perhaps not at all. So take your time on this cache ... it may expand your horizons ... and without doubt you will learn a lot.

With many artworks, the "right" perspective and mind-set is the important thing ... keep your eyes "set" and take the best photos. In any case, which artwork did you like best or impressed you the most?

The tasks set are all solvable by observing, combining and estimating. Special tools are not required. However, you will find that many solutions may be found only on-site ... this cache cannot be solved with Internet research alone. Oh, and another thing: the distances between each station are of different lengths. The finale is a little off the path ... and yet, so close ... but somewhere usually far fewer people pass.

If you are coming from the city to do the cache, then the station "Giant Pool Balls" would be the best place to start. The station "The Lost refection" can be solved along the path on the opposite side of the lake (on Torminbrücke on the north side of the lake).

The following images show some of the artworks that you will pass. Enjoy the journey and at the end of it you will only need to find a small box. Along your way you will find many places to while away your time.

Have fun with this cache ...

Tip: If you own a smartphone (iOS, Android), you can load the app "Skulp.Tour" and learn interesting things about many of the sculptures. The app isn't required in order to make this cache.

AA - The Lost Reflection (2007), Susan Philipsz
This artwork is a sound installation that may be heard on Sundays from 11:00am to 6:00pm on the hour every hour. You will hear voices from both sides of the lake ... they seem to call out ... to unite ... and then they are lost again. On the sign you will find the name of the artist, the name of the project, the year of the installation and a ...
9342 = CHI-Code
9462 = QR-Code
9532 = Barcode

BB - Giant Pool Balls (1977), Claes Oldenburg
Claes Oldenburg became known as a master of the pop art world by enlarging and modifying everyday objects. Sit down between the balls ... they will give you the feeling of movement. If you put ONE thread around the outside of ALL the balls and then tie the two ends together, how long (approximately) would the thread have to be?
9180 = 32 meters
9410 = 72 meters
9440 = 102 meters

CC - Water Structures (1977), Heinz Mack
A steel stele fitted with blades projecting 16 metres into the sky ... each blade level is tilted slightly towards the sky ... this creates the sense of rising movement ... the emerging water at the top produces a falling spray. What is the upward angle of each blade?
9700 = 1 degree
9790 = 2 degrees
9450 = 3 degrees

DD - Exhaust Structures (works 1-3) (1973), Friedrich Gräsel
Solid ... and yet completely in compliance with the motion of the technical function. There are three "exhaust structures" ... you will see the other two further along the way. Make a note here of the details of "Work 1". How many pipes do all three structures have together?
9370 = 40
9140 = 44
9250 = 48
Note: stay on the path and go through the park to the next station.

EE - WE ARE STILL AND REFLECTIVE (2007), Martin Boyce
This inconspicuous site is designed with cast concrete slabs ... the 13 shapes form a pattern. At selected intervals, brass rods are inserted to form the letters ... WE ARE STILL AND REFLECTIVE. If you stand at the threshold you will find the "W" ...
9340 = in the front left
9720 = in the middle
9590 = right behind

FF - Large Vertebrae (1968), Henry Moore
The individual parts of the bronze sculpture are close to each other ... yet are not connected. Their harmonious smoothness makes them appear to be natural creations ... their position embedded in the garden reinforces this impression. How many parts (not including the base) does the object consist of?
9303 = three parts
9213 = five parts
9263 = seven parts

GG - Pier (1977), Jorge Pardo
The pier extends far into the lake ... purist in its strength ... the observation deck offers a view of what may be described as "urban nature". Which is correct?
5805 = The pier is 25 meters long, the pavilion on the viewing platform is triangular.
5865 = The pier is 40 meters long, the pavilion on the viewing platform is hexagonal.
5990 = The pier is 80 meters long, the pavilion on the viewing platform is nanogonal.

HH - Look up and read the words (1997), Ilya Kabakov
The "transmission tower" sends you, and only you, and the universe of course, a message. Sit down at the foot of the steel mast ... look up into the sky ... read the words ... and reflect on what you read. How often is the text repeated?
5645 = not at all (the text is presented only once)
5745 = once (the text is presented twice)
5895 = three times (the text is presented four times)

II - Less wild than others (2007), Rosemarie Trockel
Two massive monolithic blocks stand there ... slightly offset ... forming a narrowing gap ... through which the water in Lake Aasee shimmers. What do you see when you look through the gap towards the lake?
5765 = one entry/exit platform for rowers
5865 = the information board for this sculpture
5955 = you see the "Pier" sculpture

JJ - Untitled (1977), Donald Judd Concentric rings ... minimalist ... horizontal ... and following the slope ... a topographic regulative. This artwork is made of solid concrete. The walls are 1cm thick
5905 = 20 cm
5945 = 60 cm
5835 = 100 cm

KK - Archaeological Site (A Sorry Installation) (2007), Guillaume Bijl
In April 2015, the "Archaeological site" was filled for cost reasons (unbelievable) . Münster is an oddity richer: hidden, underground art. The initial task can no longer be solved. Until the rebuilding of the station I give the solution value here directly: 5875

LL - Fitted together (1971, 1977), Karl Ehlers
The iron sculpture has been standing on the forecourt of the Allwetterzoo since 1977. With its six legs and three heads, it looks like a mythical creature. It is known locally simply as "Giraffe". How high (measured from the base) is the sculpture?
6060 = 8 meters
6260 = 12 meters
6490 = 16 meters

ZZ - Final
N 51° (AA + BB + CC + DD + EE + FF) / 1000
E 7° (GG + HH + II + JJ + KK + LL) / 1000
