Geocache Description:

A nice walk along the Wyre Estuary, especially if you keep your gaze in the direction of the water!  Path has been recently upgraded and should be available all year round, suitable for bikes and prams too. This is an addition to our series here, placed after we discovered our nearby cache had been removed due to the path upgrade, hence the strife!

The footpath on top of the flood embankment is part of the Wyre Way - a long distance walk of 45 miles connecting the Forest of Bowland with the Wyre Estuary. Look right towards Stanah slipway and the saltmarshes, look left towards Fleetwood and Knott End, where the Fleetwood to Larne Ferry Terminus is visible.(no longer in use) Try not to look behind you at the rather large local factory! Plenty of wildfowl and waders to see along the route. Cache site is about a 30 minute walk from the Wyre Estuary Country Park car parks. New wooden benches have been installed along the path, ending at the Dissused and Abused cache. It's about a 3 mile walk from the park visitor centre to Fleetwood for the more adventurous. Of course there is an alternative route along the nicely named Burglar's Alley! Congrats to djandyuk and Airhorns for their joint FTF
