Stocks in medieval times were wooden structures used as a method of punishment for petty offences such as swearing and drunkenness. The punishment was meant to be more of a humiliation than cause actual harm.
Beetham has a set of stocks on a small green at the corner of the old 'main' road. A pleasant little spot in this attractive small village. Beetham also includes a BIG house just across the road, a pub, post office, tea room, lovely church, impressive war memorial, theatre, school, working water powered corn mill, a modern paper mill, and a garden centre. Although it's small, there's quite a lot going on here! The area is mostly wheelchair accessible, but the stocks are 'off-road' and be careful on the roads.
A bit of stealth may be needed. A small vial in the base of tree. Bonus points for pictures of your team in the stocks! Enjoy!
