Mitsukaido Sta.
In 1913, this station was opened on November 1st concurrently with the opening of the Joso Line. Before that, it took about 14 hours from Tokyo to Mitsukaido by a steamship along a river. It became almost 2.5 hours by a train thanks to the Joso Line. The opening ceremony of the railroad was held in Mitsukaido. The head office of the railroad company was in Mitsukaido for a while. Thus I think that this station was the most important station of the Joso Line.
It just becomes the opening of business 100th anniversary in 2013. Some commemorative tickets were published and a photocontest was carried out.
By the way, I placed this as a geocache in connection with "100" in commemoration of the Joso Line opening of business 100th anniversary. Followings are the geocache information.
1) It is placed about 100m away from the listed coordinates. (It is not in private area.)
2) The container is 100cc and more in capacity.

水海道駅
水海道駅は、1913年（大正2年）11月1日、常総鉄道開業と同時に設置されました。この鉄道が開業する前は、水海道から東京まで内国通運の蒸気船で行きが8時間、帰りが14時間かかっていたものが、取手経由の鉄道を使うことで実質乗車時間2時間30分で行けるようになりました。この鉄道の開通式は水海道で行われ、鉄道会社の本社はしばらくは水海道にあったので、この駅は常総鉄道のもっとも重要な駅であったと思います。(visit link)
そして、2013年はちょうど開業100周年になりました。専用のHPが開設され、記念切符の販売やフォトコンテストの開催等が行われていました。
さて、このキャッシュは常総線開業100周年を記念しまして、100にちなんだキャッシュにしたいと思います。このキャッシュの情報を記します。
