Tilley Style Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

sno_man: I went to check on this one today, and the container is damaged and not where I originally hid it (pretty much right out in the open). I'm going to let this one go, although I loved reading logs from all the people who had events in the nearby pavillion and geocached for the first time with friends. I'm going to wait for a while to see if someone else puts one here before I think about putting something here again ... rather have a smilie here than a star! Thanks to the 250+ folks that came to visit!

Geocache Description:

TheTilleyHat has style ... and not just on his head!  A small plastic tube about 4 or 5 feet off the ground, about 25 feet from the sidewalk. I did notice a potential yellowjacket hole NEAR THE GROUND on a tree about 15 feet away from the cache (toward the sidewalk), so don’t disturb anything at or near ground level.  If the nasties are active, leave and come back at night or early in the morning - don't get stung just for a smilie.

As many of you know, TheTilleyHat (aka Tilley or TTH) spent the better part of this spring and summer hiding several caches for us all to find.  In fact, he hid 101 caches in 101 days – a pretty unbelievable feat in my eyes!  I was lucky enough to get FTF on several of those hides, and after a while, I began to notice a pattern or style to many of the hides.  Knowing that "style" helped me to brute force a few additional FTFs along the way.

Now, granted, I have not done ALL (or even half) of Tilley’s hides, so this is merely my perception of the style of ones that I have done. First, Tilley seemed to be able to sniff out a location for a cache in many areas that others may have either overlooked or thought were too saturated.  Second, with the exception of a few wacky tree climbs, most of the caches were in fairly accessible locations.  And third, again with some exceptions, many were just sitting there ready to be seen from just the right angle.  And finally, again with exceptions, most were hidden on Tilley’s side of town.

So, this cache is hidden “Tilley-style”.  I was able to sniff out a spot in Churchville Park, an area I though was already saturated with caches.  It is in a fairly accessible location (enter the clump of trees from the sidewalk near the “Welcome to Churchville” sign).  It’s just sitting there, waiting to be seen from the right angle (please note how it is hanging over the smaller branch to keep it less visible).  And it’s on my side of town.

Right as I hid this, my GPSr batteries died, so I had a lot of difficulty getting good coordinates in here.  It should be fairly easy, so if the description above doesn’t help, read the hint
