The Florida Scrub Blue Jay is a species of scrub jay native to North America and the only species endemic to the State of Florida. It is known to have been present in Florida for at least 2 million years and derived from the ancestors of Woodhouse's Scrub Jay. It is heavily sought by birders who travel from across the country to observe this unique species. It measures 9-11 inches in length and weights less than 3 oz. The wingspan is 13-14 inches and it has a strong black bill, blue head, blue bib, blue wings and long blue tail.
