One of nearly 4 dozen geocaches placed along a 160-mile length of the Bear River between Niter (Idaho) and the Bear River Bird Refuge (Utah) in the summers of 2013 and 2014. Geocache numbers refer to the distance in river miles below the Cove Powerhouse southwest of Niter where we began our long canoe journey. It was our intent that most caches in this series could only be accessed by floating the river, thereby encouraging others to explore and enjoy the "Bear" for themselves.
This cache is located at the confluence of the Cub River and Bear River where Cache Valley's first mountain man rendezvous was believed to have taken place. Distance is about 5.5 river miles below the Richmond / Trenton bridge. The container is a silver metal capsule hanging about 1 foot above the ground. Be sure to check out the Jim Bridger monument on the west bank of the Bear River. BYOP.
