Geocache Description:

This once was the site of Leasingham Hotel built by Charles William Walton in 1855. It was first licensed in 1856 with C.W Walton who was lincensee from 1856 to 1864 and then again from 1873 to 1879. The Hotel was a stopping point for the bullock teams with their Wagons carting Copper Ore from the Town of Burra to Port Wakefield, back then it was know as Port Henry. At the rear of the Hotel there were changeover stables for the Horses of the North and South bound coach run.

Unfortunately in 1891 the Hotel was no longer a Hotel..

in 2008 the Clare Valley Regional History Group Erected this Memorial Plaque
