Update 25/10/2015 - the cache has been moved slightly. Those who are in the midst of playing this should refer to our enabling log of 25/10/2015 for more information. Thanks.
One of a series of caches placed for the WWFM event in Peterborough in June 2014. All such caches can be done as standalone caches, so you can do all in the series in one go, or one or two at a sitting as your time permits. You'd be advised to bring a pen, and also read the cache page thoroughly before setting out.
You will need to ensure you have the means to play wherigo cartridges in the field. For more information visit http://www.wherigo.com. If you're unfamiliar with Wherigo caches may I suggest you read that site thoroughly. See the 'Related Web Page' link on this page to download the cartridge required.
About this cache:
A tour of the city's most spooky locations....
You'll be asked to visit a number of locations in turn, and as you arrive at each location you'll be asked a question about the physical location you're visiting. On answering that question successfully, you'll then be given a ghostly story related to that location.
Please note, the subject matter covered in this wherigo relate to ghost stories associated with the city. These are not discussed in a sensationalist or graphic way, far from it. Whatever your opinion on such things, if you feel this is not to your taste, then this may not be the cache for you. There is nothing in this wherigo that is specifically unsuitable for children, but if your caching party contains children it's up to you whether they participate.
I'd like to thank Stuart Orme, the historian, who is the source of these stories. If you'd like to expand your reading on the subject beyond what is covered in this wherigo please let us know.
This wherigo isn't particularly complex, although there is a fair bit of walking involved, so I would suggest you allow 60-90 minutes to complete this cache. The D and T ratings reflect that.
Depending on your route, you'll go past up to five other caches as you go, although I'm not completely at liberty to tell you which ones!
Day or night?
Immediately after the first zone, you will have a choice of zones to go for next. This is due to the fact that one of the choices is only available during the day. The one marked 'night' is available at all times.
Other Stuff:
The cache is around 20 minutes' walk away in a safe location to retrieve and replace, but can get very busy so stealth will be required a lot of the time.
Please replace the cache as found, and refer to the hint if you're not sure. We've made it as specific as can be.

A NOTE ABOUT MUGGLES
Please make an educated decision about the level of muggle activity when you arrive at GZ, and if you find it's just too muggly, we'd suggest you return another time - we'd rather you protected the cache. That said, the cache has been hidden in such a way as to be retrieved and replaced discreetly. Thank you. |
