A small 21-acre wildlife preserve seated in a sleepy corner of New Canaan. This land had previously been used as a dairy farm, owned and operated by Richard Calhoun and his wife Damaris. In 1974 they donated this property to the New Canaan Land Trust, who have maintained it as a sanctuary for nature conservation ever since.
Park at the waypoint provided on Davenport Ridge Road and walk around the old wooden gate to enter. This is Calhoun Field, and the cache is not far away. There are no trails, so bushwhacking is likely; dress accordingly. If you venture a little further along the stone walls, the foundation of an old house might be visible.
