Geocache Description:

The terrain is wheelchair accessible, but to reach the cache help may be needed. Meter parking. Heavy muggle activity. Be STEALTHY. Bit sketchy after hours.

Early in the 20th century Boyle Heights was known for its ethnic diversity as Russian, Mexican, Japanese, Jewish and many other immigrants called this place home. Walking through the streets of Boyle Heights you may not notice the history staring you in the face. In 1920 Japanese immigrants, moving in from Little Tokyo, began to settle along 1st street. Due to the bombing of Pearl Harbor Japanese Americans were taken to interment camps. Upon their release many returned to Boyle Heights in 1946, and Japanese businesses flourished. Today many are gone, but businesses like Otomisan, one of Boyle Heights first restaurants and last reamining Japanese restaurant, remind us of the ethinic diversity Boyle Heights experienced and how the Japanese helped it flourish. Congrats!! FTF Stickyangler
