November is for Navy Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

halllilley: I decided to let go the twenty-six Military series caches, and as I could not find anyone who wanted to adopt them, I am archiving them. Thanks to all who figured out the puzzle for this one and logged the find. The container has been removed.

Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!

The United States Navy (USN) is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. It is larger than the next 13 largest navies combined in terms of battle fleet tonnage, according to one estimate. The U.S. Navy also has the world's largest carrier fleet, with 10 in service, one under construction (two planned), and two in reserve. The service has 317,054 personnel on active duty and 109,671 in the Navy Reserve. It operates 286 ships in active service and more than 3,700 aircraft.

This is the fourteenth cache in this series and it is dedicated to the men and women in the armed forces...and especially to those young men and women who have aspirations to join the active services once they enter their adult years. Papa BTCO, who originally created this cache, served for 10 years in the US Navy, 5 of which was onboard the USS Whidbey Island.

Use the below clues to solve this puzzle.

N

USS Whidbey Island

USS Ponce

USS Smith

W

0 USS Bainbridge

0 USS Bonhomme Richard

0 USS John Paul Jones

Please DO NOT park on the major roads and attempt to find this cache. This is NOT a park and grab. You can find parking on nearby side roads. Neither are that far of a hike in. As always, bring a pen, mind the muggles, and have fun!

Added 3/14/2016: BTCO was the owner of this military series of 26 caches either through the initial publication or through adoption. When he moved to Iowa he did not think he would be able to continue to properly maintain the series. As I had served 27 years in the Air Force he thought I would be a logical choice to assume the ownership of the series. I agreed with his assessment and I adopted the series from him.
