This reserve consists of nearly 700 acres of forest donated by Bruce and Howard Krug of Chesley. It was originally used to supply lumber for the Krug Bros. Furniture factory in Chesley. A large maple syrup operation, also owned by the Krugs, was onced based here .
Now as a nature reserve, trails will take you through old growth forest and past beaver ponds. It is the home to many nesting birds.
At this trail head there is a plaque honouring the Krug donation.
