Geocache Description:

A quick drive by cache on the Stuart Highway, approximately 40km south of Alice Springs.

***PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN***

Orange Creek is a small watercourse, that is dry for 98% of the time - like most creeks and rivers in Central Australia (which is why it's totally safe to camp in creek beds here unlike other places in Australia). The creek flows from the Waterhouse Ranges -which you can see directly to the right when reach the cache- south east to the pastoral station of the same name.

The Waterhouse Ranges are rich in Aboriginal and European history and we thoroughly recommend that you incorporate a trip through the Owen Springs Reserve into your caching visit to central Australia. You'll need a 4WD to do this - and you'll be able to pick up some 4.5 and 5 terrain caches EASILY. Read the info here for details, or refer to the link at the top of this listing (related web page) for fabulous photos and even more info on this must-do caching adventure.

The cache is an Eclipse tin with a log book and no room for swaps.
