WtL2 - Level crossing Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalraddy: With regret I will have to archive this cache. Definitely missing. In addition the glass houses opposite are apparently about to extend their presence across to this side of the track so there will be a lot of activity in evidence and far too close to the cache site.

Geocache Description:

This cache is near what, if the railway was still a railway, would be a level crossing for a farm access road.

The cache is now a small chewing gum tub with room for small swaps and TB's.

Walk the Line is a series of caches linking Lowca and High Harrington along the cycleway, which follows the route of the old railway. Locals describe the walk/cycle as "goin' down t'line'. The route is tarmaced and suitable for walking, cycling, horses and pushchairs. It is a bit narrow in places, and can get busy at weekends, especially in good weather.

The railway line originally carried coal and bricks (from Lowca pit and the Micklam brick works) until the 1970's.
