Geocache Description:


El Peiró de l'Assagador es una cruz gótica del siglo XV situada en el camino viejo que une las poblaciones de Peñíscola y Benicarló.

 

La cruz actual está reconstruida a partir de los restos hallados en Peñíscola, en 1910, por la familia de Juan José Simó. Los fragmentos de la cruz conservados, aproximadamente la mitad de la obra, corresponden a dos remates y a la parte inferior del brazo vertical. Falta el cuerpo de la cruz en el centro y el espigón donde estaría labrado el capitel. Estos restos del siglo XV muestran personajes bíblicos ornamentados con hojas de acanto aunque su identidad es dudosa debido la erosión.

The original cross dated late 14th century. In 1910 a storm destroyed the original cross. The current reply was made in 2009 with the fragments of the original one. During the reconstruction, the golden parts and the painting were revovered.
