Little Bluestem is the State grass of both Kansas and Nebraska. This is cache 20 in a series of 30 caches along stateline road honoring the state symbols of Kansas and Nebraska.

Schizachyrium Scoparium, aka Little Bluestem grass, is a perrenial bunch grass prominent in tall grass praries. It's often found in praries with big bluestem, indiangrass, and switch grass. It's a warm season species and typically grows to 3ft. The blue tint comes out in the spring, as the summer wears into the fall it turns a reddish color that it keep through out the winter. Legistlative action designated little bluestem as the state grass of Nebraska in 1969, and in 2010 for Kansas.
