Geocache Description:

Silver Nano

Beautiful Nebraska is the state song of Nebraska. It is the 30th and final cache in our series along stateline road honoring the state symbold of Nebraska and Kansas.

Beautiful Nebraska was written in the 1960's by Jim Fras and Guy G Miller, both of Lincoln, NE. Fras composed the music and both men wrote the lyrics. Fras was a russian immigrant and musician. He got the idea for the song during a drive in the countryside near Lincoln. He parked his car by a clump of trees near a farmers field. While resting on his back in the tall grass and looking at the bright blue sky, a new melody popped into his head. He hurried home where he sat down at the piano and quickly finished the melody and wrote it down. Later Fras joined with Miller to write the lyrics. Gov Timann signed a bill designating Beatiful Nebraska into law on June 21st, 1967. The same year Nebraska celebrated his centennial.
