Glynneath Cwmgwrach Heritage Trail Cache. The cache is a film canister which contains a log book for you to sign. Note: You will need to take your own pen or pencil to sign the logbook.
This cache is hidden near Neath Canal, you can take a stroll along the canal tow path, across open countryside and past the old lime kiln opposite Maes Gwyn Lock. Before the industrial revolution pastoral farming was the leading occupation in and around Glynneath and Cwmgwrach. Throughout the 1800's all manner of industries developed in the area including mining, iron making works, silca brick making, a woolen mill and gun powder works. These industries led to many of the local people abandoning their traditional way of life for more lucrative industries despite the harsh working conditions of many of these ocupations. Today evidence of these industries can still be seen keep your eyes peeled for them whilst your on the hunt for the geocache.
