‘Barb-er the tease’ was the only girl of the pack. By day she is ‘stuck’ as a hairdresser – teasing hair, combing hair, cutting hair and occasionally rescuing a distraught mother by getting bubble gum out of a little girl’s hair! But…aaaaah…the night….this is where she really shines! Turn on a flashlight and she lights up with excitement as she recounts her many caching adventures. Watch for her lights in a woods near you! Not surprisingly, her favourite table at the geocaching event was the one selling high powered flashlights.
This cache is a NIGHT CACHE. As such I upped the difficulty and terrain to reflect that it's harder just because it is being found in the dark. If this were a daytime cache, I would have rated it a 2 or 2.5. Remember that there is safety in numbers. This cache is on a narrow pathway. please FOLLOW the trail until you have to go off to find Barb-er. This trail has twists & turns, ups and downs, and wet weather will make it harder in some parts. BE CAREFUL and use at your own risk! Powerful flashlights are better, but the little pocket LED's are ok.Carry extra batteries. Don’t just look up at the trees, watch where you are going as well so that you don’t trip on roots. That being said - It is possible to walk right past Barb-er (both sets of testers did) if you are focused on what’s ahead only, so look UP, DOWN, AHEAD , LEFT AND RIGHT! lol! Once you find Barb-er, turn around to see where the tacks tell you to go. Don't assume!!
Special markers:
- 3 tacks in a triangle to show you which way to go and if you at any time see an 'x'...you're not going the right way!
- 2 tacks on top of each other warn that there is a hazard near. (3 of the hazards are small stumps sticking up, and one hazard is a change in grade)
- Tacks close to the trail on both sides, means you are at the end
- Look for 4 tacks roughly in a square and you’ll meet Barb-er
