Geocache Description:

Are you goin' to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there, she once was a true love of mine.

This is a moderately short hike but allow a few hours to explore the reserve. The flora and fauna is unmatched in my views and so are the weathered rocks found all around the reserve.

Baskloof Private Nature Reserve is unique in so many ways. The ethos says it all: "To Restore, Rehabilitate, Renew and Recycle. To co-exist: fynbos, man & renewable energy"

sea view

Baskloof is completely off the grid- not connected to any external or state supplied energy source. Leading by example, hydro, wind and solar technology supply all the power needed to maintain the State of the art facilaties. Conservation is the epicentre of the Reserve's mission.... one mission that should be on every geocacher's mind when walking in nature.

From the Red Hill walk sign, follow the path up and over towards Hill Billy Scarbs cache and carry on until you reach the jeep track. There are many paths up into the reserve from this starting point and, to the best of my knowledge, they all end up at the same jeep track. From here follow the jeep track past the "out of place" looking houses and continue until you leave the path for a few meters near the cache location. My gps was all over the place while taking readings so please don't rely too much on an exact position.

The cache, a small round lock'n'lock, is placed under a really cool rock feature. The cache can be found on the sea-side of the feature at boot height

Permits can be bought for R12 at Mickey's Mouse Trap next to the Camel Rock Restaurant
