Being very near the Wales-England border Glasbury on Wye is a long way from the sea. So, on beautiful summer days, Bank Holidays, etc the shingle banks of the River Wye are a mecca for the locals to just sun-bathe, mess about in the river, or on the water in canoes. It can be quite busy here at times with families having BBQs or picnics.
The cache is hidden in a quiet place on the common - 'the bont', which you can stroll around to admire the mature trees and even spot a kingfisher flashing by if you are lucky.
In some winters the river can flood quite severely and cover most of the common. In 2000 the floods almost went over the flood wall! Hopefully the cache will be dry for you.
There is parking available (and toilets) just by the bridge.
