Newaukum Creek has a great salmon spawning in early Oct., and you can get a nice view from this small bridge. There are continual restoration projects on this creek to allow the habitat to thrive. Volunteers are always needed for this task, especially the "fish fling." A happy creek makes for happy salmon! There's a great view of Mt. Rainier, when she is out, and the Cascade foothills to the east. Two resident eagles have made this little valley their home the last 10 years, and we have watched their eaglets learn to fly to nearby trees (boy were they nervous nellies). They nest in a deciduous tree to the NE across from the cattle farm on W. Side of road a little further N of the bridge.
