Geocache Description:

The "Torre Argentina" is one of almost 70 so called "Saracen-towers" which can be seen along the coast of Sardinia. The watchtowers were built by the Spanish during the 16th century to protect Sardinia against Saracen-Pirates. The Name "Argentina“ has nothing to do with the country "Argentina“. The Name is derived from the latin word "Argentum" (Silver). It is an indication of the  silver resources of this coast area, which were mined until 1963 in "Argentiera", 50 km to the north: [L'Argentiera, Sardegna]. A picture of you and your GPS-Device would be wonderful! Special thanks to kirkadore. who will take maintenance of the cache! He hided some caches at really beautiful places along the coast of Sardinia...please visit his listings!
