Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches in and around the town of Wallingford. The well known crime writer Agatha Christie owned a house in the town and spent her later years there. All the caches in this series are named after her books.

The starting point is simply the centre of town - there are plenty of parking places around and the bus stops are adjacent to this spot. The cache is a magnetic keyholder in a location which can be busy at certain times

The town of Wallingford is quite old....that means a number of its buildings are quite old, and old buildings sometimes need a bit of help to stay up. The most common method seems to be by using tie-rods and at the ends of these (on the outside of the buildings) at patress plates - such plates can be very simple but in Wallingford there are a number which are letters, which, with some simple maths, makes them ideal tools for a multi-cache!

You will be taken to five locations in the old part of Wallingford where you will see these patress plates. Note down the letters, allocate them their alphabet number (eg A=1, G=7, Y=25) and then it's time for the maths:-

The cache is located at

N 51 £.$    W001 07.(@+#+&)

To calculate £ multiply the number from Q1 by 4

To calculate $ add together all the numbers at Q6 then subtract the numer at Q3 then subtract the two numbers at Q4

To calculate @ multiply together all the digits at Q2 and Q3

To calculate # look at the patress plate at Q5 and imagine what number this could be (the two digits are the same) then multpiply this by 3

& is the number at Q1

The cache is magnetic and involves a bit of a stretch!
