SK: Obec Zlatná dostala pomenovanie podla zlata. Vdaka osobitému tvaru brehu Dunaja, kde sa tok rieky spomaluje, vznikli široké pieskové naplaveniny – lavice, v ktorých sa zachytávali zrnká zlata, z nich sa ryžovalo zlato. Tymto remeslom sa na Žitnom ostrove ešte aj na prelome 19. a 20. storocia živili stovky rodín. Dnes sa obec snaží obnovit zašlú slávu ryžovania zlata, avšak už len ako turistickú atrakciu.
EN: Zlatná village was named after the gold that was found here. Due to the unique winding of the river Danube in this area, wide sand banks formed. At these spots the waves broke and caught the gold-powder, making them ideal for gold panning. At the turn of the 20th century, the craft was still earning the living for several hundred families in Žitný ostrov. The village seeks to restore the old glory of gold panning, although only as a tourist attraction.
