Parking for this cache can be found down towards the crossing in front of the dam at the listed coordinates- S33 24.021, E115 58.649. The parking location is next to a disused pumping station.
Answer the following questions to find the cache which is located nearby at S33 23.ABC E115 58.DEF
WARNING- once you have solved the puzzle please be extremely careful retrieving the cache. It is located on a steep drop off and I recommend children be left by the path to watch while Mum or Dad get this one. Please be careful.
Note since the upgrade to the mountain bike trails in the area the cache final location is located near some of the tracks. You won't need to use any dedicated mountain bike trails to access the cache but just be aware of the potential for increased muggle activity.
The Water Corp have installed canvas style view barriers on the fencing around the pumping station so I've rewritten the clues to use building features that are still easily visible. Apologies to cachers that had trouble solving it- I didn't realise that the bottom half of the building was essentially not visible after the new signs/canvas was installed.
- A = On the main building (the largest one) count the total number of downpipes on the building and add 3 to get A.
- B = The main building has two "names/signs" on it- One is painted on and the other has raised letters. On the river side- the sign with the raised letters has how many words in it? Add 1 to this to get B
- C = Sligthly higer up the hil from the pumping station- at the next level of the switchback is a flat area with a guard rail on two sides. On the flat area are a number of raised concrete "plinths". Basically you're looking for concrete structures that poke above the ground that machinery would have been mounted on. The number of plinths = C
- D = On the river side of the building are a series of windows- they are grouped together in sets- how many windows per set? That's = D
- E = On the side of the building furthest from the dam is the original name of the building- above the roller door. What number pumping station is this? Take 1 away from this to get E
- F = Are you Ready Player one? Or should I say are you feeling lucky? Here's a freebie- F is lucky 7- now on to the final location and please- watch your step.
2nd (Final Stage) Checksum A-B+C+D-E-F = 1
You can follow the path/trail most of the way to the cache. I'd suggest deviating from the trail only after you've gotten as close as possible to the cache.
Congratulations Chwiliwr on the First to Find!
