4 egg yolks
½ cup sugar
2 cups milk
2 whole cloves
Pinch cinnamon
1 cup cream
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Whisk egg yolks until they lighten in colour. Slowly add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
Mix milk, cloves and cinnamon in a saucepan. Slowly heat until steamy hot, but do not boil. Slowly add mixture into egg yolks, whisking constantly to avoid it curdling. Put back onto heat. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until mixture begins to thicken slightly and coats the back of the spoon. Do not allow to boil or it will curdle.
Remove from heat and stir in the cream. Strain to remove the cloves. Let cool for an hour, during which time you can go and get the cache. It shouldn’t take long, it’s just a container thrown in a bush. You will need to take your own pen.
Mix in other spices. Chill. Or drink warm, which is how Owl likes her egg nog.
Do not make if on a diet.
Owl doesn’t drink alcohol, so leaves it out. Cachers can choose otherwise, but that means you shouldn’t go caching afterwards.
** If you have other suggestions for egg yolks, please put the recipe in your log.
Please be sensitive to the neighbours. I don't want to have to move the cache because the neighbours are annoyed.
Note that there is no need to walk on the garden - the cache can be easily reached from outside of it.
Please cover well with natural cammo - the cache, that is. The egg nog just gets dusted with nutmeg.
