Not a real bear. Just a sleeping bear. Or at least a resting bear which is what we all do when we get to the top of this hill. Seek a downed tree just off the trail. There should be fun kid swag to swap.
The Mesabi Trail starts at the fairgrounds in Grand Rapids, MN. While the trail continues all the way to Ely, traversing 132 miles and connecting 28 communities, I have focused on about 4 miles of the trail. The trail itself is a great paved bike trail that is well-mapped and well-maintained, the Mesabi Trail also makes an interesting walking path. Cache as you see fit!
Partially built on old railroad beds, old logging and mining roads, guests will find a 10 foot wide bituminous surface (asphalt paving). Great for summer activities such as biking, inline skating or walking. Winter activities may include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking.
Note: These caches are alphabetically named A through Z. But some are out of order and some are missing. Fun to discover!
