The coordinates for this cache will bring you to an informational pull-off along the road where you will have a great view of some massively-shifted rocks.
Read the rocks. Trace the layers across the cliff above you. The bands of colors are abruptly interrupted, sliced diagonally. Rock beds on the right are much higher than the same-colored beds on the left.
Under intense pressure, unable to stretch and bend, the crust cracked and shifted. This particular fracture is millions of years old.
On a larger scale, similar forces fractured subsurface rocks and warped underlying layers to create the Waterpocket Fold, the backbone of Capitol Reef National Park.

1. There are three strata of rock highlighted at this site. What are the names of the three layers/formations?
2. How much higher are the rock beds on the right compared to the same-colored rock beds on the left?
