Geocache Description:

Celebrating Geocaching in Space Event Tennessee Valley Geocacher Style

Mark your calendar for 5:00pm - 7:00pm on November 7, 2013!

Geocaching is rocketing into space once again. Astronaut Rick Mastracchio will deliver a Travel Bug® to the International Space Station. Mastracchio will be using the Travel Bug as an educational tool to help teach students around the world about geography and provide other educational lessons.

STS-120 delivered the Harmony module and reconfigured a portion of the station in preparation for future assembly missions.

The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on November 7 and we want you all to be there (at least in spirit). That means the launch is planned to liftoff at 5:08 a.m. in Berlin and November 6 at 8:08 p.m. in Los Angeles.

Attending this event will get you a special souvenir from Geocaching.com for attending any "Geocaching in Space" event on November 6 or 7!

If the launch is delayed, you will still receive the special souvenir if you attend this event.

Please log a "Will Attend" so we can insure sufficient seating is reserved at Shoney's, I-75 at the Clinton/Norris exit, Clinton, TN. You do NOT have to order anything to eat or drink in order to attend the event, you are always free to sign the log and just visit.

The log will be available at 5:00pm and it will be there until 7:00pm. (Door prizes will be given out at 6 pm, you must be present to win.) Sure, I may have to eat for two hours, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Door prizes will include some genuine NASA decals and to help "Light Up the Night", we will be giving away six 10-LED Headlamps (batteries included!). photo led_headlamp.jpg

Come for the event, and stick around afterwards because there's plenty of nearby caches.
