Geocache Description:

There was a whole series out here once. 22 caches that each had a code, culminating in a final that was only finadbale with all 22 codes. This is close to where it once was.

The CO of that series (ThePublixEye) was one of the reasons I got into geocaching. He and TheDirtys were having a bit of a competition to see who could out-number the other, and there I was trying to just get started (when TheDirtys was getting me going). I was *so* far behind.

When ThePublixEye published this series, I left work early trying to get to a FTF on any of them (my first, had I made it), but happily took STF on many. I had hope that I could because Periwinkle128 had marked one or two as DNFs. Or maybe that's just a fond but false memory? LOL!
I heard stories about Periwinkle showing up at the CO's house because he made a mistake on the coords and put them as his front door or something. From both the CO's and PW's points of view! :D

The series was pretty cool, and my first of the type; I stayed out so late trying for it! I finally made it to the final after a minor (?) prod from the CO, to find myself as the STF there, too. Great series!

So when the CO offered to have me adopt them to keep them alive instead of archiving them, I was right there. Most of the containers had been innovative, but not long lived so there was a bit of maintenance to do, but nothing like the final.

The final was near this spot, but at least 2 times (I think) it was completely destroyed. One time at least it was reported that it looked like someone was living right there. Arg!

OK, the series grew to be too much for me, too: too much maintenance required! Some of the spots were not quite my style, either, so I finally broke down and gave in to the forces of time. The final is archived and a note added to each of the remaining ones; they'll go as time and patience progress. There are a few that will always remain if I can help it, though. And a few that I replaced with a "round 2" kind of thing that will definitely have to remain. (http://coord.info/GC3KB7D for example)

So, this cache is in honor of the series that got me really into late night pushing it style caching for a goal: The Scattered Fate series. It finally met its Fate.
