このキャッシュは、猿喰新田の汐ぬき穴の近くに隠されています。
猿喰新田は、江戸時代中期に大里村の庄屋だった石原宗祐が、飢饉に苦しむ農民を救うため、庄屋の職を辞し、私財を投じて作ったものです。
汐ぬき穴は、川や用水路の水を海に流すために掘られた排水用戸樋門で、潮の干満によって招き戸が開閉する構造になっています。つまり、干潮の時には、新田側から排水が行われ、満潮時には扉が閉じて海側からの浸水を防ぎます。
