Cache is a 4x6 Lock & Lock hidden on the hillside near Omenoku Point / Elk Head. There is a "goat" trail heading right to the GZ, but the trail is steep in places and is extra treacherous in the rainy seasons....Keep your kids and pets close.....its a long way down. Cache should be high enough to be safe from pounding waves, but I do not recommend searching for this one during those times of exceptionally high surf and/or heavy rains.
Omenoku Point (Yurok for 'Where it projects') offers stunning views of coastal Trinidad. From here, you can see Tdad Head, Tdad State Beach, and College Cove. Flat Iron Rock is offshore to the southwest. This guano stained island is home to numerous species of seabirds, seals, and sea lions. The large island with the trees to the south is Pewetole Island. Pewetole Island has a large blowhole on its west side and when the surf is big enough, water will shoot hundreds of feet in the air. Just below the geozone is a pretty decent place to fish when the conditions are right. I've caught Cabezon, Greenlings, and Lingcods from these rocks. I suppose this cache could be reached from College Cove beach when the conditions are just right, but the safer/saner/easier route would be to follow the main trail all the way west and then hop on the smaller but still defined trail through the vegetation. I have included a trailhead waypoint for the smaller trail which takes you through the trees and dumps you out onto the point.
