Geocache Description:

This is the final destination in the JB series. Like the others, it should be easy to find when you get to the GZ. However, getting there will take more effort than the others. Container is 2" diameter and x 2.75" long, wrapped with digital camo tape. A pencil (and sharpener) is provided, which might be very convenient depending on how and when you get to the cache. It should be winter accessible but you may have to dig through snow.

The trail to Jockeybush Lake starts at a parking area on NYS Route 10 just south of Kennel's Pond. This is a fairly popular summer hike and occasionally gets winter use. If you come by snowmobile, you might have to look closely to find the trail. Once you get to the lake, you still have a way to go to get to this cache. I recommend looking at a topo map before trying this one.

Jockeybush was marked as snowmobile trail at one time, and years ago and I rode it. It is still labeled on maps as a snowmobile trail but it is not maintained as such and is not for the average rider and machine, but it could be a fun boondock ride.

Unlike the other JB series caches, this one is not off the ground. You may have to dig through some snow in the winter. In any season, when you get close you should be able to identify, within a few feet, where to look.

Like most of my caches, the intent of this hide is to lead cachers to an interesting place. You shouldn't have to spend much time looking when you get there. I don't think this is a really hard cache but the last 500 feet or so may take some effort. Difficulty and Terrain ratings are for the summer. I am not sure whether to consider it harder in the winter or not. Depends on your point of view. If you snowmobile to it then it might be easier overall. If the trail happens to be packed by ski/snowshoe then it might be easier overall.

I would like to say that no one thought of this location before, but... I was at the spot a few days before I placed the cache and thought it was ideal for an interesting and somewhat challenging cache. I didn't know Swizzle had already placed one until I looked at the geocache map afterwards. I posted a note, and he let me know that he was looking to thin out his caches. He offered to archive his original cache so I could place this one as part of my series. So a couple of days later I went back and placed the new cache.
