This FAIRMONT CEMETERY is the older of the two large cemeteries in this beautiful city, and is located in the norther portion of town. This cache is placed as a tribute to the ranchers, miners, farmers and pioneers who developed this area and are buried here.
Raton was originally named WILLOW SPRINGS and was changed to RATON around 1879 when the railroad was constructed through town. Its post office has run continually ever since.
