The TART trails are a network of trails, bikeways and pedestrian ways in the Grand Traverse Region. They are one of our area's greatest resources and encompass more than 60 mile of trails. The trails allow residents and visitors to enjoy all that the Grand Traverse Region has to offer including forests, beaches, neighborhoods and urban, natural and recreation areas. The 10.5-mile long TART Trail is a paved urban transportation corridor with an eastern end point at M-72/Bates Rd in Acme Township and a western end point at the M-22/M-72 intersection in Traverse City, where it follows onto the Leelanau Trail. For now, there is a gap in the TART trail, called the Acme gap. This gap extends from the site of this geocache to the intersection of M-72 and Bates Road. The goal is to complete the trail although access/land ownership/financial issues are still being worked out. There is also a plan to extend this trail all the way to Elk Rapids at some point in the future.
Please park in the dirt lot for the TART trailhead, not the adjacent private driveway to find this cache. Please bring a writing utensil as there is not one in the cache. FTF gets a presidential dollar coin.
